Actually Andreas Pellens did not want to travel to the German National Gardening Exhibition “Bundesgartenschau” in Erfurt anymore before it would end. But then he received an email: „We are very happy to inform you that you won the National Honorary Award in bronze of the National Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) at the Bundesgartenschau Erfurt 2021 in the contest ‘Green Plants, Blooming Potted Plants and other classes, single exhibitor’. Congratulations!” Two “Great Gold Medals” that Andreas Pellens had won in Spring and Summer already on the Bundesgartenschau had been delivered by courier. „But for a National Honorary Award one appears in person, of course,” Andreas Pellens emphazised.
The festive award ceremony took place in front of about 200 guests in the autumly decorated Carl Zeiss Hall of the Trade Fair Erfurt. All in all 36 Honorable Awards of the BMEL were handed over in 14 categories. Andreas Pellens got his Award in the form of a big medal and an certificate from the Hands of Dr. Thomas Schmidt, Undersecretary Gardening and Landscape Gardening of the BMEL. A lot of Honoraries of the Gerrman Federal Gardening Association congratulated as well.
„I can only be extremely happy about such a high honouration,” Andreas Pellens explained after the ceremony. „For us this really was a very successfull National Gardening Exhibition. And I do not only say that because of the prizes we won. We got positive responses from visitors, too, and is not this the aim of all gardeners: to inspire people with our products? It looks like we did that again in this Gardening Show. That’s why we prospectively will also participate in the next National Gardening Exhibition in 2023 in Mannheim. But before all else I have to thank all my employees, because we can not produce high quality plants without good workers.”
